Communications and Educational Support for Extension and CAHNRS disbanded
Due to the recent budget cuts, as of July 1, Extension Communications and Educational Support ceased to exist as a consolidated unit. The Computing and Web Resources Unit and Extension Publishing and Printing remain as separate units reporting to Extension Administration.
The Video/Multimedia unit and its staff will continue to function until December as a state-funded unit of WSU Extension. But in December, the staff funding will be switched to a service center account and all salaries, benefits, overhead and equipment amortization for all projects must be covered by the service center account.
Former ECES director Scott V. Fedale is now a faculty member in the Murrow College of Communication, with half of his time assigned to supporting Extension program delivery. As part of this assignment, he is charged with running the Vide0/Multim edia unit and facilitating its transition to its new status operating on a full cost-recovery model.
The Video/Multi-Media unit is still accepting projects but all project costs will now have to include salary, benefits and WSU overhead, as well as the traditional equipment, travel, per diem charges and other “out of pocket” expenses, such as expendable materials, like DVDs.
