Cougar ACTion
The Washington State University chapter of Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow (ACT) was started for students interested in the field of agricultural communications. ACT provides students with opportunities to improve their agricultural communication skills, meet industry professionals, gain experience in the field, and meet other students with similar interests. Activities range from lectures by local speakers and visits to area communication-based businesses to publishing college programs and national conferences.

WSU Agricultural Communications Opportunities
Agricultural Communication majors at WSU receive a broad liberal education in agriculture with the opportunity to specialize in selected subject matter areas. Students take courses in journalism, public relations, advertising and broadcasting in WSU's nationally renowned Edward R. Murrow School of Communication. Advisors from both the School of Communication and the College of Agricultural, Human and Natural Resource Sciences' Department of Biological Systems Engineering are available to assist you to design your program of study.
Study in agriculture includes courses such as animal sciences, plant science, agricultural economics, soils, natural resources and agricultural engineering. Approximately one-fourth of your college-study will be in courses offered by the Edward R. Murrow School of Communication selected from general communication, journalism, broadcasting, advertising and public relations. You will be expected to develop a specialization in two agricultural areas and one communication track, in conjunction with your advisor. Competitive internships are also available. |
