ACT Objectives

  • Promote careers in agricultural Communications
  • Provide leadership experience to members and keep them abreast of developments in agricultural communications
  • Help members make professional contacts and begin to work with future associates and employers
  • Improve courses and programs related to agricultural communications by stimulating interaction among students, faculty, and professionals
  • Provide an organizational structure that is as broad as the career interests and goals of agricultural communication students, so ACT can serve all students and relate to all professional groups within the career field

What can ACT do for me?

Through ACT, students can meet others with similar career interests. The organization also provides a broad network of professional contacts who are successful in guiding students toward successful careers. Other benefits include the following:

  • Regional meetings

Who can join ACT?
Membership in the organization is not limited to students with majors in agricultural journalism or communications. Any major is welcome to join ACT!

Membership/Dues

National ACT dues are paid annually and are $12 per undergraduate and graduate members.

Dues-paid members will receive a quarterly newsletter. This publication provides communication among students, faculty, and professionals through articles sent to the National ACT editor.

Members may participate in the annual National Critique and Contest. Students enter their work in many communications categories -- public speaking, photography, publications, electronic media, and others -- and receive constructive critiques from professionals.

History

National Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow was established at the Agricultural Communicators in Education convention in 1970. TOday there are more than 15 active chapters and more than 500 members at colleges and universities across the nation and Canada.
