The 4-H Western Region and Washington State University
invite you to join us for a national satellite conference showcasing
the best in 4-H After School programming.
Through
a USDA and National 4-H Council Engaging Youth, Serving Communities
(EYSC) grant, a nation-wide call was put out for states to feature
their After School programs. The intent of the EYSC grant is to
serve rural youth in the areas of 4-H After School, Youth Governance
and Professional and Volunteer Development. The 13 Western states
and the Pacific Territory of Guam are actively engaged in providing
dynamic 4-H youth programming.
This two-hour broadcast will feature 4-H professionals from around
the country who will present their local programs and include interviews
with adults and youth about what’s working well in their locale
and what contributes to their program’s unique effectiveness. The
broadcast will also feature a live, interactive discussion session
utilizing toll-free phone and fax as well as email for viewer questions.
How
You Can Participate
The broadcast is available in two ways—via satellite or a videostream
on the Internet. The satellite downlink option is best for viewing
by a group. It requires a steerable satellite dish capable of receiving
a C-band satellite signal. Many Extension offices and community
colleges have this type of equipment.
For
individual viewers or people in locations where satellite reception
is not available, the broadcast will also be accessible via the
Internet using videostreaming technology. You will need an Internet
connection that's better than a 56K dial-up connection and a personal
computer that is loaded with RealPlayer or Windows MediaPlayer.
Prior to the broadcast, specific satellite and videostream viewing
instructions will be sent to those who have registered for the broadcast.
