Brief Overview of the Publication Process
WSU Extension Publishing and Printing is here to help you, the author get your research based materials published. Below is a brief overview of the publications process.
All authors and reviewers should review the Publication Policies and Procedures manual and the copyright information before writing the manuscript.
- The author requests permission from the Program Director to write a publication using the manuscript proposal form.
- The author should review the Publication Categories and Criteria to help deciding which type of publication will be written prior to writing manuscript.
- Once permission is received from the Program Director, the author writes the publication following the Style and Form Guidelines.
- Once written, the author submits the manuscript into the Manuscript FastTrack online peer review system.
- The publication will follow specific steps and different individuals will have specific roles in the Manuscript FastTrack system to insure quality peer review is completed.
- The author submits the completed publication packet to the Publications Coordinator, Lagene Taylor while peer review is being completed. The sooner you submit all of the required documentation, the sooner we can move your publication through the process.
- Failure to submit all of the completed forms will delay the publications process.
- The publications coordinator will assign an editor and designer to work with the author on editing and designing the publication.
- The author works with the editor and designer on the publication.
- The publication is approved by the author and published.
